Following the success we had with the first Grovelands contractor registration day in Canary Wharf, we organised a second event meeting contractors on complaints handling projects in Leeds.
Following the success we had with our first contractor registration day in Canary Wharf, we decided to organise another event – meeting contractors on complaints handling projects in Leeds, West Yorkshire. As this was a road trip from one end of the country to the other we found a venue with a conference room as well as accommodation for the night – and which, most importantly, was a stone’s throw from the project site.
So, we set off on our approximate five-hour train journey, loaded with Grovelands banners, overnight bags (…some of us packing considerably more than others), interview and Pre-Employment Screening sheets galore and beaming road-tripper smiles all round. The journey there took a little longer than expected, but despite this our spirits were unwaveringly high and thankfully we were well equipped to pass the time with train activities including ‘I Spy’ and ‘Hang-Man’. After missing our connecting train we eventually arrived safely at our destination just in time for a bite to eat – eagerly ready for a busy schedule the next day.
On this occasion, we had three interviewers on duty – Bill, Claire and myself as well as the invaluable Laura from the Associate Care Team. The general response to Grovelands and the registration day itself was very positive. We were presented with the opportunity to meet with contractors we had never met before, and who (unbelievably) had never even heard of Grovelands! Those we met were spread between work-streams including PPI, general banking and investments and were of impressive calibre. The middle of the day was predictably quieter than the morning and afternoon sessions, however this allowed for us to carry out a few longer interviews. In the busier moments, Laura was on hand to do some additional improvised interviews to prevent queuing and likewise our resourcing team assisted with the Pre-Employment Screening where necessary.
Hats off to everyone who made the day possible. I’m keen to get on the road again for our third registration day – and with any luck it will be just as successful.
