The Gradbridge Award: How it can help graduates

Having a strong academic CV is a great start and will go a long way to getting you to interview. However, at the interview stage of an application your employability skills will be put to the test. Attributes such as the ability to work effectively in a new team, to communicate clearly and concisely, to lead and to perform under pressure are all desirable skills employers look for. If you are applying for a graduate role fresh out of University it can be difficult to display all these skills, which are common in the work place.

The 3rd of April 2015 saw the launch of The Gradbridge Award; a unique and innovative concept designed to test and develop students’ soft skills and helps them prepare better for the work place. This award offers students the opportunity to stand out from the crowd and demonstrate to employers that they possess the necessary skills to be successful in their career.

What does the Gradbridge Award involve?

The format of the Gradbridge Award is certainly intense. Over 3 days and 2 nights, participants will take part in five different stages, working with different teams at each stage. Each stage is designed to test and develop the key skills required in the workplace.

All participants carry a chip, which will collect data and benchmark their performance against specific attributes including problem solving, strategy, communication and teamwork. After each stage participants then receive coaching and training analysing what they have learnt and how they can articulate and leverage their experiences when speaking to employers.

How can the Gradbridge Award help you?

The Gradbridge Award is designed to be challenging, giving students the opportunity to bounce back from adversity and embrace new opportunities, just as in their careers.

The award itself can help you develop the crucial soft skills that employers look for at interview which are transferable to the work place. Furthermore, employers such as British Gas, Microsoft, PwC and Barclays have backed the award
