New Year, New Career: Our recruitment vision

2014 has been a fantastic year for Grovelands, however, we’ve got even bigger plans for 2015! Jo Sharpe reveals our plans for growth, and explains how you can be involved.

2014 has been a busy year for Grovelands internal recruitment. We currently have 88 staff, based over 3 offices, and one on-site representative at our largest client.

Our year has been successful; the business has grown and we have won a number of campaigns and awards. In addition to this, we’ve also made a number of senior internal hires, namely a new HR Manager and a Marketing Manager, as our business prepares for growth in 2015.

By the end of 2015 we aim to have 110 staff working for Grovelands, and we also aim to have opened 2 new offices in the UK. In 2016 we have even more ambitious plans as we are planning a European office, and to have 160 staff.

Our recruitment process

The majority of our staff at Grovelands are Resourcers. It is the Resourcer’s role to source fantastic candidates to fill our clients’ vacancies. These are great jobs and all our Resourcers learn invaluable skills and gain great experience in many different areas, for example, telephone and computer skills, presentation skills and financial services market knowledge. We offer a varied training programme, on-going support and encouragement, and also real progression opportunities. Remember I said we were growing? A bigger Grovelands, means lots more opportunities for all our staff.

At Grovelands, we look for a certain sort of person to join us. You should have a degree at 2.2 or better, be interpersonally strong and have a hunger and determination to succeed.

We work a lot with both Brighton and Sussex Universities to make ourselves known to their students, but we are equally interested in seeing those with some work experience, preferable gained within an office and we love those who have telesales experience as they will be used to telephone work and a target driven environment.

The first step on the journey to working here starts after I receive your CV and I’ve sent you one of our job descriptions. I will do a short telephone interview, as I want to hear more about why you are interested in working in the recruitment industry. Once I have concluded this, I invite successful candidates in to meet me and one of our Team Leaders.

Competency based interviews

We conduct competency based interviews here. You should be able to identify some of our competencies from our job description. These types of interviews are a fantastic way for you to use your personal experience, gained at work or university, or just from your life, to give me examples of what skills you could bring to Grovelands. Make sure you do your research and your preparation. Lots of information can be found online and on our website. And I’m here to help guide you too!

The final step on the recruitment journey is the second interview. These will be held by our senior staff and will probably include a Director of our business. This will also be a competency based interview. The interview process will challenge you, but they are keen to hear your answers and how you might handle different situations, but most importantly, they want to see your personality, hear what motivates you, and feel your enthusiasm and drive.
