Last Thursday saw Grovelands win their first ever industry award at the Recruitment International awards ceremony. Ashleigh Belgrave discusses her highlights of the evening.
Last Thursday saw not only a spooktacular Hallowe’en for Grovelands but also the Recruitment International awards ceremony for 3 lucky staff members!
Grovelands burst onto the scene 4 years ago so it’s about time we started raising our profile in the recruitment world. We’ve taken it upon ourselves to start entering competitions and the RI awards are hopefully the first of many.
Expectations were low en route to the event at the beautiful venue of 8 Northumberland Avenue. Knowing it was our first awards evening and the competition being so high, I played it cool and was happy just to be shortlisted for an award. However, Tom Henderson and DJ Marker were almost certain we were set for a win and were happy to take a competitive position against my hedged bet.
Out of the 12 categories, we had entered 3: The Best Recruitment Company to Work For £10 – £40 Million; The Growth Company of the Year; and The Rising Star. Tension was building after it was announced that we were shortlisted for The Growth Company of the Year, but after just missing the top spot we were shortlisted for a second time for The Rising Star. This time we didn’t miss out and were victorious in winning the category! We all excitedly ran up to collect the award, which was presented by Tony Perkins of BDO.
The boys were particularly happy to have won the bet as well as the award. In hindsight it was silly of me to bet against us winning but at least Tom and DJ were happy with their £10 winnings.
Overall it was a very well organised and fantastic evening, made even better by the trophy for our new awards cabinet. Fingers crossed this will be the start of many more.
