Sickness and Holiday for contractors is different to full time employees. Due to the nature of contracting Grovelands is not legally obliged to give time off for holiday or sickness pay, although we do try to be as accommodating as possible for these situations depending on the client’s business needs. This policy outlines the processes that must be adhered to with regard to holidays and sickness, any deviation from this process must be agreed to beforehand otherwise it could constitute a breach of contract.
If an Associate needs to take time off from their contracted project due to sickness they must phone their Line Manager and their Grovelands Relationship Manager half an hour before they are due to start their shift. They must either email, text or call their Relationship Manager at Grovelands who will then confirm this with the Client. They must do this for each day that they are absent, unless otherwise agreed. For long term periods of absence the process remains as outlined above, unless otherwise agreed, however the contract may be ended at the Client’s request due to the associate becoming unable to carry out the obligations in their contract. If this process is not followed it will be treated as unauthorised absence and the associate is considered to be in breach of their contract.
If an Associate needs to take any days off as holiday they must speak to their Line Manager about their desired dates. Once their holiday has been confirmed they must ensure that they contact their Relationship Manger via email, text or phone call and make Grovelands aware of the dates they will be off. If this process is not followed it will be treated as unauthorised absence and the associate is considered to be in breach of their contract.
Sickness and Holiday must be reported in this manner only; the above policy is treated as a term in the contract between Grovelands and the Supplier. Any failure to follow the processes outlined above constitutes a breach of contract and could result in the termination of said contract, unless otherwise agreed.
